Ronald Glenn “Ron” McMillan, 80, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at his home in Carrollton.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1940, in Covington, Kentucky, to Walter O. McMillan and Blanche May Huff McMillan. He was a 1958 graduate of Walton-Verona High School. He served in the US Navy and the Naval Reserves. He married Joan Bowman on March 24, 1962. He started work at age 15 packing groceries and turned that into a long career working many years as a meat cutter, manager and store owner before retiring at the Parkview IGA Grocery in Carrollton. He was a Christian and involved with several Christian Churches throughout Carrollton over the years. He was an avid golfer, a charter member of the Kentucky Kruizers Car Club, serving as past treasurer, and a charter member of the Carrollton Lion’s Club. He had also served on the Carrollton Utilities Commission Board for more than 23 years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years of Carrollton; two sons, Shawn McMillan of Walton, Kentucky and Chris McMillan of Carrollton; a brother, Gary McMillan of Cincinnati; a sister, Pam Younger of Crittenden, Kentucky; and a granddaughter, two great grandchildren, five nephews, two nieces and a dear friend, David Flynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Greg McMillan; and a nephew.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.16, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the English Cemetery in Carrollton. Owners of antique cars are invited to join the procession to the cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Kentucky Kruizers Car Club or the Carrollton Lions Club through the funeral home.
