Samuel Ray “Sam” Cutshall, 82, of St. Cloud, Florida and formerly of Jefferson County, Indiana, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at the Orlando Health/St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
He was born on July 9, 1939, in Jefferson County, to Floyd L. and Madge Olean Whitsitt Cutshall. He was a 1957 graduate of Hanover High School and married Bessie Louise Roberts on June 20, 1959 in Hanover and they had four daughters. He worked as a truck dispatcher at Morgan Packing Company from 1957 to 1966 and then started his career as a setup man for Cummins Engine Company where he worked 30 years before retiring on July 4, 1996. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church near Hanover and spent most of his life in Jefferson County until moving to Florida in 2008. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, refinishing furniture, and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years of St. Cloud; three daughters, Kendra Ferguson of Canaan, Indiana, Tammy McKay of Madison, Indiana and Robin Cutshall of St. Cloud; his sisters, Linda Hall of Henryville, Indiana and Sherry Cheatham of Scottsburg, Indiana; and four grandchildren, a great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deirdre “Dee Dee” Stevens, on Nov. 22, 1996; two brothers, Robert L. “Bob” Cutshall and Kenneth Allen Cutshall Sr.; and two sisters, Diane Cutshall and Bonnie O’Dell Cutshall Feuerstin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery near Hanover. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
