Shirley Anthony Brown, 90, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on May 30, 1931, in Trimble County, Kentucky, to Charles and Elva Crafton Brown and was raised in the Mount Pleasant Community. He married Doris Alexander on July 11, 1952, in Madison, Indiana, and they had a son and a daughter. He was a farmer and enjoyed milking dairy cows, raising tobacco, corn and hay. He loved being with his family, gardening, sitting on the front porch with his wife, fishing and taking his grandchildren for rides on his 4-wheeler and teaching them about farming.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Doris Alexander Brown; a daughter Debbie Wheeler of Bedford; a son Kevin Brown of Hanover, Indiana; three sisters, Verbena Severn of Ohio, Roberta Eldridge of Vine Grove, Kentucky and Pam Webster of Bedford; a brother: David Brown of Lexington, Indiana; and five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Layne and Delbert Brown; and a sister, Charlene Stockdale.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 and 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the funeral home.
