Thomas Walter Miles Sr., 92, died Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Mission Hospital.
He was born in Nashville to Campbell Gentry and Lilie McClure Miles. He served in the US. Army and then attended Vanderbilt University where earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. His professional career was spent working at The Mead Corporation and Tampa Electric Company. He was an active member of Kiwanis for almost 50 years and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Churches where he served the church and Kiwanis in many capacities.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Eltinge of Oakton, Virginia and Janet Miller of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan; a son, Howard Miles of Georgetown, Kentucky; a sister, Mary Alice Miles of Nashville; and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Janet Ada Douglass Miles; a son, Thomas Miles Jr.; and his brother, Campbell Miles Jr.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison, Indiana, with full military honors provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Madison Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
