William C. Finkbine, 85, of Madison, Indiana and formerly of Eaton, Ohio, died Friday, June 4, 2021, at River Terrace Health Campus in downtown Madison.

He was born on his family’s farm on Oct. 23, 1935, in near Oxford in Butler County, Ohio, to Hugh Chalmers and Mary Elizabeth VanAusdall Finkbine. He was raised in the Presbyterian church and was a graduate of McGuffey High School in Oxford. He married Janice Arlene Foster in January 1960 and they had three sons and a daughter. Early in life he worked 11 years for the National Cash Register Company and then two years with Bendix Rubber. He then retired after 25 years of service with General Motors-Inland Plant as a machinist in Dayton, Ohio. He had resided in the Eaton community for 19 years and in Madison since 2019. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, riding and spotting old trains and watching Ohio State sports.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janice Arlene Foster Finkbine of Madison; his sons, Rick Finkbin of Urbana, Ohio, Ronald Finkbine of Madison and Doug Finkbine of Dayton; his sister, Janet Pater of Hamilton, Ohio; and six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tracy Finkbine, on Aug. 5, 2014.

A private family graveside ceremony will take place at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Ohio.
