Switzerland County girls basketball finished third in the four-team Mohawk Holiday Tournament at Waldron on Tuesday.
The Pacers dropped a hard-fought battle with Tri-West Hendricks 54-52 in the morning semifinal but regrouped to beat host Waldron 58-43 in the consolation game.
Halle Archer had a big day, scoring 16 points in each game to lead Switzerland. Bri Stow had 13 points and Courtney Higgins 10 against Tri-West while Macy Collier had 14 points and Higgins and Stow each scored 12 against Waldron.
Switzerland, now 9-5 on the season, returns to action on Wednesday when it competes in the Rivertown Classic at South Dearborn. The Pacers will take on host Dearborn at 6 p.m.
Trimble boys get win
Trimble County boys basketball opened the Ray Zellar Christmas Classic at Whitefield Academy with a win, 56-36 over Francis Parker on Tuesday.
James Thomas Wilcoxson led the Raiders with 22 points and Ethan Horn scored 15.
Trimble, now 6-6 on the season, faced Villa Madonna in the second game on Wednesday and wraps up play in the tournament on Thursday.
