Madison wrestling finished off an unbeaten opening week to the season with eight wins in two days over the weekend.

On Friday, the Cubs traveled to Switzerland County where they posted wins over Salem (54-24), Rock Creek (78-0) and Switzerland 49-18.

On Saturday, Madison won five matches in the Bedford North Lawrence 6-way, beating New Albany (66-18), Forest Park (54-24), Silver Creek (76-6), North Harrison (63-15) and Bedford North Lawrence (63-16).

Seven different Cubs were undefeated in the three-way meet at Switzerland County: Eli Stewart (120/126 pounds), Trenton Bivens (132), Cameron Wall (160), Ayden Waggoner (170), Drake Youngblood (182), Van Skinner (195) and Brayden Brewer (220). Four others, Emmett Wilhite (138), Noah Burkhardt (145), Brayden Richards (152) and Don Chen (285), were 2-1 on the night, while Jake Dyer (113) and Jamea Perry (120/126) each went 1-2. Switzerland County won its other two matches on the day, beating Salem 37-36 and Rock Creek 36-12. Salem beat Rock Creek 42-12 in the other match.

Complete results for Switzerland were not available, but against Madison, Avy Burkholder (113), Ethan Jones (126), Gabe Rose (138) and Gabe Jackson (145) each picked up victories while Chazz Hartley (120) and Weston Bolton (132) suffered losses.

Nine different Madison wrestlers went undefeated on the day at Bedford with all but one posting winning records.

Five Cubs, Stewart (120), Wilhite (138), Burkhardt (145), Youngblood (182) and Skinner (195/220), went 5-0 while Isabella Schatzman (106) was 4-0. Waggoner (160) went 3-0, Wall (160) was 2-0, and Anderson (195) was 1-0. Dyer (113), Travon Resendiz (170) and Chen (220/285) each went 4-1, Bivens (132) and Richards (152) were both 3-2, and Perry (126) went 2-2.

Madison, now 9-0 on the season, travels to Providence today and hosts Batesville on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
