The City of Milton Commissioners approved several resolutions at their July 14 meeting.
They contracted with Joanne Pyc to continued as the city attorney. City Clerk Angela Dunaway said the contract is the same as it has been for the last four years.
The Commissioners authorized Mayor Denny Jackson to enter into a contract with Rumpke of Kentucky extending the terms of the contract until Aug. 1, 2025. The addendum to the contract has weekly trash pick up at $12.08 per unit per month and the four-yard dumpster at the sewer plant is $95.81 per month. The City of Milton and Moffett Cemetery pick up continue to be free, as is the recycling containers behind the city building.
The 2022 tax rate was set at 15 cents per $100 of assessed value as determined by the Trimble County PVA office. Taxes can be paid starting Oct. 1 and through Nov. 1 there is a two percent discount and taxes not paid by Jan. 1 will have a five percent premium added and the premium goes to 10 percent on Feb. 1.
After an executive session to discuss litigation and personnel issues the commissioners said to the advertise the Milton Water and Sewer Department for a part-time billing clerk. The position will be 20 hours per week and pay $12 per hour. Applications are available and are being taken and can be turned in at the Milton Water Department/Milton City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Resumes may also be dropped off at the same location.
Mark Bates said that discussions are on going about the replacing the treatment facility or sending it on down the line. He said it would be late October before he had preliminary numbers.
He said discussions with Trimble County Fiscal Court were successful and funds were allocated from the county’s ARPA funding for the lift station control panels, He said it could be between $18,000 and $28,000.
The neighborhood watch signs have been installed and patching on Cooper’s Bottom Road is completed said Bates. He also said that moving the boat may take a couple more weeks as they person who will do the removal has been involved with a bridge job and would to get finished with the dry weather.
The mower has been has been having issues and Bates said a comparable rental mower is a $125 per day, so he is contracting the mowing until repairs are made. With the age of the mower he said they need to look at adding another mower at $10,000-$11,000 or trading the current mower in for a new one.
The department has added three taps to the property across Hwy. 36 from Richwood and installed three more at Riverview.
