Switzerland Co. 60, Trimble Co. 59 — Kadyn Riley hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Switzerland County to a stunning 60-59 win over Trimble County in the opening game of pool play.
Trimble (4-5) had led the game wire-to-wire until Riley drilled his trey from the top of the arc as time expired. The basket was Riley’s only points of the game.
Both teams played the game without their top scorers. Switzerland County’s Cam Craig, who is averaging 30 points per game, is out until at least mid-January with a foot injury. Trimble County’s James Thomas Wilcoxson, who is averaging 25 points per game, was suspended for two games after getting ejected in the Raiders’ loss to Walton-Verona last Friday.
Jacob Williams scored 21 points and Trace Johnson had 14 to lead Switzerland (4-4) while Bradley Romans chipped in 10 points.
Ethan Horn scored 24 points, Brayden Wilson had 16 and Ethan Keller 11 for Trimble.
Southwestern 75, Carroll Co. 36 — Undefeated Southwestern jumped on Carroll County from the opening tip and rolled to the 39-point win.
The Rebels (8-0) led 25-10 after the first quarter and, despite heavy substitutions, increased the lead at every break. Southwestern took a 40-20 lead into halftime, forced a running clock in the third quarter after pushing the lead to 35 and led by as many as 41 in the fourth before settling into the final margin.

The two teams battled down the stretch before Kahn’s bucket with two seconds left put the Hilltoppers on top for good. Carroll’s desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer hit off the backboard.
Kahn scored 22 points, getting half of those at the free-throw line where he was 11-for-14. Wyatt Nichter added eight points and Eli Turner had four points and nine rebounds.
